You will find that our condominiums are distinguished - not by hype but by much deliberate effort. The location of Kuhio Shores is really unusual and spectacular and the ground floor unit allow you to walk right out to the ocean and, since the 1992 hurricane, are 100% new. When rebuilding our units recently we consciously tried to make the interiors distinctive and most visitors have been pleasantly surprised ….. in fact enthralled, overwhelmed and ecstatic.
Location
We have one condominium in Kuhio Shores, a low-rise, four-story building situated right on the ocean in Kauai's Poipu area on the south shore of the island. It's on the road to Spouting Horn, one mile west of the Sheraton, opposite Prince Kuhio Park and next door to the Beach House Restaurant. The building is situated on a promontory protected from violent wave action by a reef just offshore.Our units is a one-bedroom and located on the ground floor -- just 25 feet from the Pacific Ocean. The condo is a ground floor unit and faces faces directly south looking toward the open ocean.
Decor
The unit has floor-to-ceiling glass windows and sliding glass doors with a panoramic view and opening onto a private lanai. In The unit, you can see and hear the ocean from the lanai, the living/dining room, and the kitchen. From the lanai, you can stroll across a grass strip to one of two small sandy beaches -- there is no need to ascend flights of stairs with swimming equipment or groceries.The unit has Hawaiian-style decor and a number of large wall mirrors that reflect the ocean., and are etched with art designs, both in the bedroom and living room. In addition there is extensive use of low voltage lighting, indirect lighting, and custom koa wood trim. There is cable TV, VCR, fax, answering machine.
Kuhio Shores unit 113 has professional audiophile ultra-high performance push-pull "planar-magnetic Radia" speakers, (for technical details see below). These speakers emit the best quality sound your ears have probably ever experienced. With a top quality CD player with many dozens of CD's (Hawaiian, jazz, blues, classical etc) you can truly relax here while on vacation and enjoy unsurpassed sound quality.The condo will comfortably sleep two people. The unit has a queen-size bed in the bedroom. The condo can each sleep four with extra sleeping facilities in the living room if necessary, some couples have chosen to sleep in the living just so they can hear the ocean all night! The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposer, stove, refrigerator, coffee-maker and blender, as well as all silverware, china, glasses, pots and pans, and kitchen utensils. etc. Counter tops are white kashmir granite slabs, and floors are all tiled with inlaid marble. Each unit has a double sink and its own washer/dryer. The bathroom are tiled with white Carrera marble with inlaid accents, Verde serpentine counters, wood accent trim and double shower heads. Some of the interior doors have custom art panels that were hand carved in Lima Peru! The furniture is made of bamboo and some seats are covered with taper cloth designs. It should quickly become obvious that you are not staying in another "generic" hotel room or condo unit.
Our unit are the result of the efforts of many of our friends who contributed their many years experience in interior design work Many weeks of the year our units are reserved by our friends who will be re-visiting to enjoy the relaxing spirit. We think you too will experience the good feeling of staying in a carefully crafted environment that was built with loving care.The condo has "natural air conditioning" -- tropical breezes and trade winds which blow through the interior most of the year, assisted by an outer lockable ventilation door and large living room and bedroom ceiling fans.

My unit at home is a one CD player. I had as much fun listening to music as I did eating on the porch with the ocean nearby. The decor was spectacular. What is truly exceptional (and unmatched anywhere else you can stay in Hawaii) are the stereo speakers in Kuhio Shores unit 113. Both units have "professional" audiophile ultra-high performance push-pull "planar-magnetic" Radii speakers by the Bohlender-Greabener Corporation of Carson City Nevada (see www.bgcorp.com). These speakers have extraordinary large bandwidth which is accomplished via a line source transducer which generates above average sensitivity. The vertical line source operates as one way speakers above the bass cross over point thereby giving coherent, consistent amplitude (loudness) and phase response. The one-way crossover less operation above 125 Hz gives seamless, transparent sound. The intermodulation distortion can be as low as 1/100th of conventional speakers. Instead of the cone source typical of conventional speakers these speakers emit sound via a 60" tall line source so sound is directed only into the listening area thus eliminating ceiling and floor reflections distortion. In short this is a complete improvement in quality compared with conventional speakers. Probably the best quality your ears will ever have experienced. Why you may ask are such exceptional speakers installed here - the reason is simple. The owners and their friends visit the units frequently and they really enjoy listening to an audiophile quality sound system.
